Alex Josephson

Founder, Partisan Projects

Founder of PARTISANS, Alex studied sculpture and architecture at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture and at the University of Rome, where he graduated as a President’s Scholar. He has exhibited widely and been the recipient of numerous awards, including a New York Prize Fellowship from the Van Alen Institute for Architecture. While studying and living in Italy, he worked in the studios of Massimilliano Fuksas and Doriana Mandrelli. His thesis work on Islamic architecture has been the subject of numerous awards and reviews. In 2010, he was admitted to pursue post-graduate studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, England, but left to found PARTISANS in Toronto.



Andrew Francis


Andrew is founder of AP FRANCIS, a New York-based growth ventures advisory and development firm. He combines business strategy, cultural acumen, and social entrepreneurship to develop projects at the intersections of business, culture, and civic action. He has advised across a range of industries, including real estate, construction services, architecture, food and beverage, consumer-packaged goods, the arts, technology, fashion, music, and media. Andrew studied Political Science at Western University and received business training at the Columbia Business School.



Phoebe Alix

Strategy Director, ACE

Phoebe is the Director of Strategy for Anomaly Content and Entertainment, a New York-based marketing communications and entertainment firm that develops content for Renaissance Hotels, Ralph Lauren, North Face, and S.Pellegrino, and creates original culinary programming, such as the Emmy Award Winning “Avec Eric” with Eric Ripert and “Hooked Up” with Tom Colicchio. Phoebe’s past experience includes developing new categories and brands for Proctor & Gamble in beauty and health, insight-based consulting for biotech firms and Fortune 50 pharmaceutical companies, and brand management at PepsiCo.



Nicola Spunt

Founder, After School

Nicola is a producer, writer, editor, and award-winning literary scholar who founded After School, a salon-style speaker series that activates big-idea conversations and actualizes engaged cultural citizenship. She also co-founded and produced In Bloom: A Celebration of Teen Spirit and the Arts, a Toronto-based arts promotion initiative sponsored by SiriusXM and others that raised money for youth mental health. A former content producer for Pop Quiz (E! Canada), Nicola also produces film and video. She holds a PhD in English and has published articles in the Oxford Literary Review, the Henry James Review, and Hazlitt; her dissertation won the York University Dissertation Award.
